Puppy & Kitten Services
On top of puppy & kitten vaccinations we can provide help and advice to new pet owners, from what diet to feed your growing four-legged friend to socialization and training advice. At this young age your pets are developing their personalities and behaviors, and we want to assist you in giving them the best start in life.
Preventatives
Fleas, ticks, and heartworms can pose life-threatening risks if left untreated. These parasites thrive throughout the year, especially during Ontario’s warmer months—but prevention is simple and effective with the right veterinary plan.
Flea & Tick – Ticks and fleas aren’t just pests, they’re carriers of dangerous diseases such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Even indoor pets are at risk, as ticks can enter on clothing, shoes, or other animals.
Heartworm – Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause serious heart and lung disease in dogs and cats. Our prevention protocol includes: annual heartworm testing and monthly preventative chews.
Deworming– Pets can be at risk of becoming infected with a variety of worms, especially if they spend time outside, around other pets or at the dog park. This can lead to lethargy, inappetence and diarrhea. We recommend regular deworming or monthly preventatives to combat this.
Microchipping
Even the most cautious pet owners can experience an unexpected escape from an open door, a slipped leash, or a frightened dash. Pet microchipping provides a safe, permanent way to ensure your pet always has a way back home. It is usually a requirement for international travel.
At Clarkson Lakeshore Animal Hospital, we offer quick, affordable microchipping for dogs & cats. A microchip is a tiny electronic device, about the size of a grain of rice, implanted just beneath your pet’s skin (between the shoulder blades). Each chip contains a unique ID number linked to your contact information in a secure registry.
The procedure is quick, safe, and virtually painless similar to a vaccination and can be done during a wellness visit, vaccination appointment or when your pet is spayed/neutered
Nutrition
Nutrition affects every aspect of your pet’s well-being, from immune strength and digestion to energy levels and longevity. Overfeeding or feeding an imbalanced diet can lead to obesity, diabetes, arthritis, and heart disease.

Prescription & Therapeutic Diets – Some pets require special diets to manage chronic conditions. Our veterinarians prescribe therapeutic nutrition tailored to your pet’s medical requirements, including allergy diets and trials, urinary, kidney, liver and dermatological.
